Delhi Metro

Delhi Metro's the backbone of public transport in NCR. It runs across Delhi, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram, Noida, and Bahadurgarh — operated by DMRC. It's the fourth-largest metro network in the world by route length and moves over 60 lakh people every day.

There are 9 colour-coded lines, 243 stations, and close to 400 km of track. It connects your neighbourhood to office hubs, railway stations, ISBTs, and IGI Airport. Trains start at 5:00 AM, last ones leave around 11:30 PM, and during rush hour the busiest lines run every 2 minutes.

Metro's great for covering long distances, but you still need something for that last stretch — a bus, auto, or e-rickshaw to get from the station to wherever you're actually going. DTC and Cluster buses are the main feeder network here. Hundreds of routes pass within walking distance of metro stations.

So you can plan a full metro + bus trip — find your bus route, see which metro station's closest, and figure out where to switch.

Metro fares go from ₹10 for short hops (couple of stops) up to ₹60 if you're crossing the entire network end-to-end. It's distance-based — the exit gates calculate your fare automatically. Airport Express is a flat ₹60 from New Delhi to IGI Airport.

Get a Smart Card if you commute regularly. It saves 10% on every trip and you skip the token queue entirely. Costs ₹150 at any station counter (₹50 deposit + ₹100 balance). You can top it up at stations or online.
